Back by popular demand, the Williams Center invites you to “Studio Ghibli Sundays,” a year-long series in which we dedicate one night a week to screening and celebrating the works of Studio Ghibli.
Miyazaki’s seminal work for Studio Ghibli became such a sensation that its title character – a forest spirit whose animal classification remains undefined – has since become the studio’s mascot. The surrounding film, a deeply spiritual work from a filmmaker attempting to rediscover his country’s once-utopian wonder, follows two young sisters whose mother is recovering from illness. In moving to be closer to the hospital, they find escape in their new house’s surrounding forests, where a community of spirits whisk them away on exciting adventures.
