Back by popular demand, the Williams Center invites you to “Studio Ghibli Sundays,” a year-long series in which we dedicate one night a week to screening and celebrating the works of Studio Ghibli.
Recently reappraised as a prescient fable on the highs and lows of the gig economy, Miyazaki’s adaptation of the 1985 novel chronicles a young witch’s coming of age as she moves to a big city and begins a courier service. Though a more intimate story coming off of Miyazaki’s prior efforts for Studio Ghibli, it is no less affecting, anchored in a young woman’s journey into independence but still glistening with oceanside vistas and city still-lifes.
