Back by popular demand, the Williams Center invites you to “Studio Ghibli Sundays,” a year-long series in which we dedicate one night a week to screening and celebrating the works of Studio Ghibli.
The first Studio Ghibli film proper, this is another fantasy-lade adventure mixing motifs of nature and technology. However, this film introduces Miyazaki’s focus on the perspectives of children; Sheeta, a young girl holding a mysterious power via her crystal necklace, meets Pazu, a humble mechanic longing to visit a mythical land floating in the sky. As the two realize their paths are connected, they must reckon with evil forces seeking to manipulate Sheeta’s power for their own self-serving gain.
