A window into 1990's Hell's Kitchen, Phil Joanou's State of Grace stars Sean Penn as Boston police officer Terry Noonan, who returns to his native New York after ten years attempting to infiltrate the Irish mob family that is tied to his childhood friend Jackie and his older brother Frankie. As an old flame begins to be rekindled and old habits begin to come back, Terry is left torn between his loyalties. Between Ennio Morricone's evocative score and Jordan Cronenweth's (Blade Runner, Altered States) cinematography, State of Grace is an all too often neglected crime drama classic that's not to be missed.
