Gilsons was formed in 2018, and is the musical partnership of Francisco, João and José Gil. Besides blending influences of pop rock, samba, reggae, and Bahian rhythms, it makes references to the classic MPB of their father and grandfather Gilberto Gil.

After a successful series of releases, including the hits “Várias Queixas" and "Devagarinho", the band released their debut album "Pra Gente Acordar". On tour, the trio has participated in major festivals throughout Brazil and recently performed on the Sunset Stage of Rock In Rio with Jorge Aragão to an audience of over 100,000 people. The band has also been confirmed in the Lollapalooza Brazil 2023 lineup. In September, the album received a Latin Grammy nomination for "Best Contemporary Pop Album in Portuguese Language).
