Our series would not be complete without the work of D.A. Pennebaker, the master documentarian who pioneered the raw and observational “direct cinema” movement of the early 60s. In his first of many collaborations with musician Bob Dylan (not to mention the first of many music documentaries), Pennebaker sets his lens on Dylan’s 1965 UK concert tour and the surrounding social upheaval of the era. Capturing the musician as candidly on-stage and he does off, Don’t Look Back is a uniquely unfiltered look at Bob Dylan’s artistry and outlook and a must-see for longtime fans.
